Any ideas about how to make a brush that pulls out the surrounding light?
I'm looking to find an easy way, via brush, to create a look of spacial anomaly/ temporal feildy-wha'chu-meh-callit. The ideal look would have an aura of red hue or light with a burnt inside.

I imagine two different proceedures:
Procedure #1.- Begin with a picture of a bright light; Duplicate original layer; negative the duplicate layer; set layer 'multiply'; delete original layer; end
^^^ The problem I'm going to have is that it's not going to pull anything out, such that black lineart will become indiscernable...I lose my picture to a bad brush.
Procedure #2.- File>New(set bg transparency); layer 1- (adjustment layer)desaturate ; Layer 2- (adjustment layer 3/4 dia. of layer 1's affected area) Hue/channel increase to Red; layer 3- (adjustment 1/2dia. of Layer1) Burn/Multiply(black)

But Honestly, I'm a novice to Gimp so if is possible, it'll take a month of trial and error for me.
Anyone? Thanks.

New member here! Just thought I would share some of the brushes that I have made. One question though, can we post frame brushes as well?

Hello all! This is my first set of brushes. I pretty much made a list of beautiful lines or words from songs (and the occasional poem) and turned them into text brushes.

Download here!

Brushes saved in .gbr format. If there's a demand, I can convert them to to another format for PS users, though you'll have to tell me the format since I don't have PS. :)

Please credit emmy_roo if you use them. I used some other brushes to ornament these; those are credited in my profile.
